Academic Advising
Academic Advising at Baldwin Wallace University is a developmental process of faculty members working with students to strategize, develop, and implement a plan related to students’ educational, career, and personal goals. Through this interactive relationship, students learn how to utilize resources and tools to make effective, self-directed decisions. While this process is a collaborative effort, the ultimate responsibility for making decisions rests with the individual student.
Academic Advising is available to all students who are admitted to Baldwin Wallace University. Advising for full-time undergraduate day students is provided by faculty, professional staff in the Center for Academic Success and Achievement (CASA), and professional advisors in the Office of Academic Advising and Retention. Students who have declared a major will be advised by faculty in that department or school. Students whose majors are undecided are advised by a faculty member in a department of interest, a faculty member who works with undecided students or by the Office of Academic Advising.
Students should contact the Office of Academic Advising to talk to an advising professional about planning their courses, to discuss academic issues, or exploring different major or minors.

Career Center
The mission of the BW Career Center is to connect students and alumni with personalized resources, information, and networks that empower them to reflect on their experiences, understand and articulate their skills and strengths, and design plans for personal and professional success. We support students and alumni in planning, preparing, and managing their careers by helping them to:
- Identify and explore career areas that align with one’s interests and priorities through a process of self-discovery, experimentation, and reflection.
- Connect and engage with others to develop mutually supportive relationships and cultivate a network of professional contacts.
- Apply effective job/internship search and graduate school application skills in the attainment of desired career goals.
- Recognize and convey value to a potential employer or graduate school through the articulation of skills and strengths in both written and verbal forms of communication.

Graduate Study
The University encourages students to continue their formal education in graduate programs and post baccalaureate certificates and professional degrees. Baldwin Wallace has such programs in the Carmel Boyer School of Business, School of Education, and School of Health Sciences. The Office of Career Services hosts a graduate school fair for BW and other universities each year. Their advisors also offer graduate school workshops and have extensive resources on graduate programs and standard, pre-admission exams.

Ritter Library
Ritter Library, located on BW’s North Campus, provides extensive informational resources and study spaces for student and faculty use. Ebooks, print books, ejournal subscriptions, and databases make Ritter Library an important resource for research. Through Ritter Library’s membership in OhioLINK, the BW community accesses electronic resources and can borrow print materials from nearly all academic libraries and several major public library systems in Ohio.

Ritter Library’s reference librarians provide one-on-one assistance to library users in person, or remotely via phone, chat, text, or email.
Amenities in the building include computer workstations, a computer lab, a printer, public scanners, and vending machines. Therapy dogs visit the library regularly. The library provides wireless internet access, a dedicated quiet study floor, study rooms, student collaborative workspaces, whiteboards, microwaves, daily use lockers, and a comfortable student lounge with games.
Center for Academic Success & Achievement (CASA)
The Center for Academic Success & Achievement (CASA) offers a robust selection of services to help students build the reading, writing, and learning skills necessary for their coursework and career advancement after graduation. Stop by the top floor of Ritter Library to study independently, meet with a group, work with a tutor, or attend a workshop.
Individual Services: Work one-on-one with professional staff or peer tutors by making appointments for Academic Coaching, Individual Tutoring, Reading Support, and Writing Support.
Group Services: Engage with a community of learners by visiting Drop-In Tutoring, attending Supplemental Instruction (SI) sessions, participating in a Success Seminar, or joining a study group.
External Online Services: When CASA staff and tutors are unavailable, BW students have 24/7 access to on-demand online tutoring services.

The Office of Accessible Education collaborates with students, faculty, and staff to help create equitable, inclusive educational environments for qualified students with disabilities.
