EDU 589 - Contemporary Issues for School Leaders, 3 credit hours

This seminar course is aligned with the National Educational Leadership Preparation (NELP) Building Standards (1-7), Ohio’s Standards for Principals (2018) (1-10) and the administrative knowledge, dispositions, and performances needed to promote the current and future success and well-being of each student and adult by applying the knowledge, skills, and commitments in the context of current issues in education. Candidates will be engaged in simulations and case study discussions within the areas of mission, vision and improvement; ethics and professional norms; equity, inclusiveness and cultural responsiveness; learning and instruction; community and external leadership; operations and management; and building professional capacity. As a seminar course, live virtual sessions will occur bi-weekly to allow for small group discussions of the topics and readings under study.
