PHT 645 - Health Informatics & Big Data, 2 credit hours Prerequisite(s): PHT 525 or other graduate level statistics course This course provides a conceptual foundation and practical training to students who will be working with larger dataset from clinical trials, census or other public health research studies. Topics include data issues in study design, collecting high quality data, using SAS and SQL to transform data into structures useful for analysis, producing typical reports, data closure and export, and working with big data. This course describes the organizational context of health information and how to use health data to manage population health. Sources and types of health information, organizational processes affecting information quality, consistency, completeness, and accuracy, methods for organizing information, and use of information will be discussed. Students will use SAS JMP software for data analysis and management.
