SOC 282 - Qualitative Methods, 3 credit hours Notes: Any of the following: CAS 311 , ECN 320 /321 , HPE 209 , SOC 280 , PSY 280 , POL 240
Corequisite(s): CSD 440 for Communication Sciences & Disorders majors This course provides an overview of the techniques and protocols associated with various qualitative data collection methodologies (e.g., field observations, in-depth interviews, focus groups, and qualitative document analysis), an analysis of commonalities and differences between qualitative and quantitative methodologies, and a consideration of data analysis techniques, including computer-assisted techniques. The course will also consider issues of writing and representation of qualitative analysis, as students are expected to conduct and present research projects using the techniques discussed in class.
