MTH 161 - Discrete Mathematics I, 4 credit hours Prerequisite(s): Knowledge of high school Algebra I, Algebra II and Geometry are prerequisites for all Mathematics courses. Students are required to have passed the Baldwin Wallace mathematics placement test or to have scored at least 24 on the quantitative portion of the ACT or at least 560 on the quantitative portion of the SAT. This course covers mathematical tools used in the study of discrete processes as opposed to continuous processes. These tools are frequently used in the study of computers. Topics include logic, methods of proof, functions, efficiency of algorithms and mathematical induction.
