ASW 211W - Nutrition for the Athlete, 3 credit hours This course studies the scientific basis for sports nutrition and how it can be used to optimize performance. Emphasis will be on nutritional concepts related to the daily training, diet, and precompetition meal, energy utilization in exercise and recovery, body composition, use of nutrient supplements and ergogenic aids as well as the special needs of athletes.
