MUC 372 - Instrumental Music Methods I, 2 credit hours Prerequisite(s): EDU 212 ; MUC 370 ; MUC 275 ; and either MUC 273 or MUC 274 The study of foundational pedagogy for teaching instrumental music to beginning students from a comprehensive musicianship perspective. Includes sequencing pedagogy, writing effective lesson plans, utilizing best educational practices, tuning a large ensemble, incorporating impactful formative assessments, constructing classroom procedures, giving constructive feedback to young musicians, and organizing a beginning instrumental music program. Supervised field experience required.
