EDU 582 - Staff Evaluation & Professional Development, 3 credit hours Notes: Required of all School Leadership candidates.
Prerequisite(s): EDU 580 This course is aligned with the National Educational Leadership Preparation (NELP) Building Standards (6-7), Ohio’s Standards for Principals (2018) (5) and the administrative knowledge, dispositions, and performances needed to build the school’s professional capacity, engage staff in the development of a collaborative professional culture, and improve systems of staff supervision, evaluation, support, and professional learning for certified and non-certified staff. Certified evaluation modules include the identification and use of high-quality student assessments and data. Data analysis is applied in the context of identifying areas of targeted staff needs for professional development, including the development of a targeted professional development plan that is specifically sustained, intensive, job-embedded, collaborative, data-driven and classroom-focused. Evidence-based professional development strategies will be reviewed and applied as appropriate in the development of professional development plans, including the use of measures of effectiveness as part of a comprehensive professional development plan. Special topic speakers and panels of practicing building/district leaders from the field are included as part of the periodic live virtual sessions.
