ASN 100 - Understanding Asia, 4 credit hours This interdisciplinary, team-taught course will provide an overview of the broad social changes in the major social institutions in contemporary China, Japan, Korea, India, and Pakistan. The course will place special emphasis on “modern” East Asia and South Asia’s linkages with their “traditional” pasts. The goal of the course is to give a broad introduction to social conditions in this part of the world, and to provide a basis for further study in more advanced and specialized classes in Asian studies.
