CSD 105D - Introduction to Communication Disorders, 3 credit hours This course is an introduction to aspects of communication (speech, language, and hearing) and swallowing. It includes an overview of typical development and function, as well as explanations of causes, characteristics, treatment approaches, and prognoses of a wide variety of communication and swallowing disorders across the lifespan. Explicit conversations regarding diverse populations specific to health care and educational systems will include consideration of power structures, disability rights, and culturally responsive practices.
