FRN 305 - French Connections: Literature, Society, and the Arts, 4 credit hours Prerequisite(s): FRN 202 or equivalent recommended. This course focuses on techniques of close textual reading in French. Students acquire skills in the analysis and interpretation of literary, cinematic, and visual/musical cultural productions. Emphasis on the connections between major works of French literature and their social context. Attention will also be given to the relation between the literary work and the other arts (music/opera, film, plastic arts, architecture) and disciplines (such as religion and philosophy).
