ASW 327 - Theory and Practice of Coaching, 3 credit hours

Prerequisite(s): ASW 227
This course serves as an introduction to the coaching profession with a focus on developing methods and strategies. Theory, techniques, strategies, and organization will be discussed and practiced. Topics include coaching objectives for practice and competition, evaluating and developing communication, teaching, coaching skills, and developing appropriate coaching presence in practice and competition. The course will take a holistic approach, with students applying what they learn through both informal and formal practical application and completion of lab assignments.
