SPN 350S - Techniques of Spanish Translation, 3 credit hours

Prerequisite(s): SPN 280 or permission of the instructor
A brief introduction to theories of translation followed by practical experience translating various texts. The course intends to educate students about contemporary issues in the community and engage in a service-learning experience. Learners will collaborate with non-profit organizations to translate documents from English to Spanish and if necessary, Spanish to English. Service-learning projects will form the basis for classroom workshops and editing skills. The two main components included in the course are the theories and concepts related to translation and service-learning.
