SPN 305 - Literature of the Spanish Speaking World, 4 credit hours Notes: Required of all Spanish majors and minors.
Prerequisite(s): SPN 280 or permission of the instructor An introduction to the study of literary texts in Spanish while reading a selection of major authors and literary genres from Spain and Latin America through the centuries. Students will develop the reading, writing, and formal analysis skills that will prepare them for more advanced courses in the major and minor while gaining a basic aesthetic appreciation of Hispanic literature and arts. While reading and analyzing prose, poetry, essay, drama and relevant secondary texts, students will become acquainted the linguistic nuances of the Spanish language as well as become familiar with the historical context and the rich vocabulary presented by the primary texts.
