Prerequisite(s): THE 110 or MUC 146. THE 100 fulfills the prerequisite for Theatre minors.
Through art and war, philosophy and science, the history of theatre reveals its not just a cultural event but a potent tool and a uniting banner in shaping and reflecting societal shifts. This second course in a two-semester series offers a comprehensive overview of the dramatic arts, from the emergence of realism, its forerunners, and its challengers, through to the multifaceted perspectives of theatre and its evolving influence today. This course provides students with instruction in techniques of deep analytical reading.
