MTH 136 - Applied College Mathematics, 3-4 credit hours Prerequisite(s): Knowledge of high school Algebra I, Algebra II and Geometry are prerequisites for all Mathematics courses. Students are required to have passed the Baldwin Wallace mathematics placement test or to have scored at least 22 on the quantitative portion of the ACT or at least 520 on the quantitative portion of the SAT. This course is designed for freshmen and deals with the fundamental mathematical tools frequently applied in the natural, management and social sciences. Topics include linear, quadratic, exponential functions, linear systems, linear programming, mathematics of finance, and statistics. (All topics are approached with a view toward applications.) A 4 credit hour version includes some remedial topics. Admission to the 4 credit hour version is through departmental approval.
