MTH 161 - Discrete Structures for Computing, 3 credit hours Prerequisite(s): Knowledge of high school Algebra I, Algebra II and Geometry are prerequisites for all Mathematics courses.
Students are required to have achieved an ACT Math Score of 22 or higher, a SAT Math Section Score of 520 or higher (if taken prior to March 2016), a SAT Math Section Score of 550 or higher (if taken after March 2016), a SAT Math Test Score of 27.5 or higher, or a score of 80% or higher on the Baldwin Wallace mathematics placement exam. This course introduces basic concepts in discrete processes, their underlying theory, and how those concepts apply to computing. Topics include logic, functions, graphs, sets and computational efficiency. This course is required of all Computer Science and Software Engineering majors.
