However, if scheduling requires, students may take the internship during the same semester as POL 464. Students will engage in an in-depth study of a policy problem faced by a public agency or nonprofit organization. The study will be one of two types: a series of problem-based case studies to be completed by students in groups, or a policy problem posed by a public agency or nonprofit organization that will partner with the class to engage in development of a detailed analysis and set of recommendations. Students will use analytical, research, and writing skills developed in the Public Service Leadership major as well as their experience in the internship to address the problems presented in the course. Career and graduate school planning and discussion will also be included in the class.
