The CMHC program enrolls a new cohort each August. Candidates from all academic areas are welcome to apply and must have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited university before enrollment. To be considered for the CMHC program, strong candidates will have a 2.75 cumulative GPA. Qualified applicants will be invited to participate in an interview with members of the admission committee.
To be evaluated for admission, candidates must submit:
- Online application (No application fee)
- Official University transcripts
- Three professional recommendations
- Essay/statement of purpose
Minimum Credits Required: 60

- CNS 503 - Counseling Theories, 3 credit hours
- CNS 504 - Lifespan Development, 3 credit hours
- CNS 505 - Social and Cultural Experience, 3 credit hours
- CNS 506 - Research and Program Evaluation, 3 credit hours
- CNS 507 - Assessment in Counseling, 3 credit hours
- CNS 508 - Career Counseling, 3 credit hours
- CNS 602 - Diagnosis and Treatment Planning, 3 credit hours
- CNS 603 - Addictions Counseling, 3 credit hours
- CNS 604 - Group Counseling, 3 credit hours
- CNS 605 - Trauma Informed Counseling, 3 credit hours
- CNS 606 - Distance Counseling and Professional Practice, 3 credit hours
- CNS 607 - Advanced Theory and Evidence Based Practice, 3 credit hours

Students must also pass the Counselor Education Comprehensive Examination (CECE) to graduation from the CMHC program. |
