ART 250 - Packaging, 3 credit hours Prerequisite(s): MTH 120 /121 , ART 140 , ART 261 (preferable ART 361 ) This course utilizes, applies, and expands skills learned in ART 140 and ART 261 , focusing on 3D packaging design and development. Using a combination of lab and lecture, this course will cover problem solving using typography, color and images on folded, soft packaging and rigid packaging. Methods such as layout, prototyping, user testing, and display will be utilized. This course includes packaging design history, the package’s role in the brand, dieline creation, budget concerns, labeling standards, and legalities, as well as environmental issues in relation to green or sustainable package design. Students use the Adobe CC Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, etc.) to complete projects and solve problems aimed at achieving these goals.
