EGR 312 - Structural Engineering, 3 credit hours Prerequisite(s): EGR 200 This course introduces students to the field of structural engineering. Approximately half of the course will be focused on advanced structural analysis techniques including integral and energy methods for calculating deflections, statistically indeterminate structures, matrix/stiffness-based structural analysis, and computer-aided structural analysis (primarily through SAP 2000). The remaining half of the course will be focused on structural design techniques, with topics including definitions, load combinations, applying codes and standards, structural steel design, reinforced concrete design, and lateral force resisting systems.
