EDU 586 - School Leadership Internship I, 3 credit hours Notes: Required of all School Leadership candidates.
Prerequisite(s): EDU 580 , EDU 581 , EDU 583 , EDU 584 , and EDU 585 Candidates successfully complete an internship under the supervision of knowledgeable, expert practitioners that engage candidates in multiple and diverse school settings and provides candidates with coherent, authentic, and sustained opportunities to synthesize and apply the knowledge and skills identified in NELP standards 1–7 in ways that approximate the full range of responsibilities required of building-level leaders and enable them to promote the current and future success and well-being of each student and adult in their school. Each semester will consist of periodic virtual or on site check-in sessions with the university supervisor and logging of a minimum of 150 hours of activity experience and/or project work in the assigned school building as well as diverse district(s) typologies from across all standards areas. Candidates will be paired with a licensed, practicing school administrator (principal) during each semester. The final assessment for each semester for the internship will consist of a triangulation of data from the practicing school administrator, the candidate, and the university supervisor.
